Opening the Qu’ran Introducing Islam’s Holy Book

I couldn’t find a Youtube video of this.
I have decided that my education in this arena of Faith is sorely lacking. For its effect and scope I think that it deserves a in depth study on my part. My goal in this life is to find, in essence, the pathway to be a good man and, I believe, I have found a path to do so. It is rooted in service and in service I must, if I am to be effective, find ways in which I am able to communicate to the various ‘lenses’ of Reality. Islam is one of those beautiful lenses and if I am to live up to the mandate of being a Good man I believe it is my duty to educate myself, as much as I can with my limited ability, in this relevant and profound arena.

I have started to read this for two reasons. One being that I want to be versed in the classics and this is, inarguably, one of them. I believe that our Modern Education has shunned much of the classics more to our detriment than benefit. I think that we think of them as dusty ideas and outdated inquiries when, in fact, many of the classic inquiries are as fresh today as they were before. Also, it may be that we think that it is so dominated by a particular lens that we are not getting a ‘diverse’ view point. If we mean this in a racial sense then I disagree because there are many ‘classics’ within all racial lines. If we mean this in a strictly ‘philosophical’ sense then I would disagree and say that the philosophies of the classics were wide and diverse as there has ever been.
Secondly is to read about the drive of a Man searching for meaning and one who found it in the arms of religious Faith. I am always fascinated with the ‘reasoning’ behind conversions. I am also fascinated when this conversion is accepted by such powerful figures and it, in turn, by their very stature, gives me reason to pause.
My own Faith tells me when your Faith is strong to reach out to other religions and seek to understand them through that lens. Through a loving and intelligent gaze. When I do this I understand more of my own journey.
